Sundays Suck

Seriously... yesterday sucked ass. How come everything opens later on Sundays? If i want to go to get food at 11am on Saturday what makes you think I want to get food at noon on Sunday? Or not at all? I went to get Indian Buffet yesterday, didn't open until 11:30. Okay, i could live with that for 30 minutes. So i decided to hit the library. Nope... OPENS AT NOON. Wtf? I didn't want to wait until half the day was over. So i drove to another Indian Buffet, okay that one doesn't open until 11:30 am either... and then you read the fine print and it doesn't open until NOON on Sunday.

No food, no library, I had to settle for a sandwich shop.

Fucking Sundays, i thought this was supposed to be one of the least religious places in the country. I would hate to see what a Sunday is like in the South. This reminds me of when we were starving and looking for food in England, only it was "tea time" and nothing was open.

Stupid Voters

I've heard of some stupid reasons to vote... because of the candidates race, gender, religion etc. Now there are stupid reasons to not vote for someone! I recently heard that a certain candidate shouldn't be voted for because they "looked bad" in public. Oh, so now we're voting based on looks? On whether or not they are an eloquent speaker? People who make ridiculous comments like that are the very people who give this country a bad name. They should not be voting. The drive for every vote is a concern to me, we'll get too many people swayed by the commercials and the junk mail.

I don't care who you vote for, as long as you are an informed voter and are voting for the candidate of your choice for the right reasons. Voting is one of the most important things we can do as Americans... but just because we have the right doesn't mean everyone should act on it. Vote for the right reasons, people.

Grandma the Surrogate

A 56 year old Ohio woman had triplets for her daughter recently. She was a surrogate for her daughter and son-in-law. I think that's disgusting. 56 year old women should not be pregnant. I don't believe in surrogacy either, they could have adopted a perfectly healthy unwanted child. Instead they did in-vitro and have three kids at once. Oh and they're two months premature and each are less than three pounds. Not everyone can have kids, that's a fact of nature. Not everyone should have kids... another fact of nature.

The fact that this grandmother carried her grandkids makes me want to puke. They are really her daughters via another daughter's husband.

The Sad State of Washington

We're pathetic... our government is inept. We would rather talk about fixing a collapsing Highway for decades than get off our asses and actually do it. We elect people for stupid reasons and then fucking pay for it. Usually we can overlook these things 'cause our sports teams were generally decent. Or even if one sports team was having a tough time another would pick up our spirits. Not anymore.

Our longest running major professional sports franchise, the only one with a World Championship, was stolen from us. The Seattle Supersonics are gone. We were betrayed, backstabbed, by one of our own over money. We had a lease and the city should have held them to their contract, but they (the city) chose money over heart. I would rather have the Supersonics than the collapsing highway. You can't buy 41 years of history. You can't buy my memories. The loss of the Sonics has been crushing... to think that my nieces and nephews will grow up and not feel the joy. It makes me sick.

But at least we have the Seahawks and Mariners, right? Nope. A Superbowl championship for Seattle was given to Jerome Bettis and the Stealers (no i didn't spell it wrong) by the NFL. Three years ago, get over it. No, i won't... because it is a pattern. It was our best chance. That chance is gone... we'll be lucky if we can get to 500 over the next few years.

The Huskies are probably the worst i've ever seen them, the Cougars... at least they are rebuilding. The Dawgs are stuck with a head coach who has never shown that he can win. He's a loser. The Huskies will be losers until they get rid of him. We may see an Apple Cup with winless teams. I don't count Portland State for the Cougs, that's like a HS Varsity 4A team beating a JV 1A team.

The baseball gods gave us our worst year in Mariners history. We were expected to vie for the playoffs yet lost 101 times. And get this, the sad Tampa Bay Rays had never won more than 70 games and are now in the World Series. Are you fucking kidding me? I guess all they needed was a name change. So i guess we should change the Mariners to the Marines. Will that help? I'll do anything to watch my team pile on each other like little kids. We fucking deserve it man, too many years of futility. We won 116 games and Sept 11th happened and the baseball gods put NY in again.

Mariners, Rangers, Expos/Nationals are now the only teams to not make the WS. The Rangers moved from Washington and the Expos from Montreal. The last four expansion teams: Rockies, Marlins, Diamondbacks, and now the Rays have all been there. In fact the Marlins and Diamondbacks have both been there and WON. The Diamondbacks made it in their FOURTH year. The Marlins have won twice.

When times are bad, people turn to sports. When sports are bad... what are we supposed to turn to? How are we going to get ourselves out of this mess? How do you get yourself out of political crap? Change in leadership. Change in culture. We have a culture of losing. We accept that we suck. Well I can't accept it anymore. It is our time. We deserve it... too much has gone wrong this year. I could deal better with the Sonics loss if i had another team to turn to, but its a sad State of Washington all around.

One of the many reasons I don't like babies...

I realized yesterday when i was out to lunch that one of the main reasons i dislike babies is that they have no concept of personal space. They see something, even if it is on your plate, and they'll grab for it. Or they'll pull on your leg, crawl under them, climb on your lap, etc. Some people find it cute and endearing but i find it highly annoying. One of the great things about living alone is that you have personal space, plenty of it.
